Lois Strine Hawk, 96, Hayward, Calif., formerly of Monrovia, died Sunday, July 1, 2007. She was born April 6, 1911, in Monrovia.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at the Monrovia Cemetery, Monrovia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monrovia Memorial Cemetery, c/o Joanne Bodenhausen, P.O. Box 74, Effingham, Kan., 66023.
Mrs. Hawk was a homemaker most of her life, except for about 10 years when she worked as a dental receptionist.
She and her husband moved to Colfax, Calif., from Hayward, Calif., in 1972, where they built a lovely home. They moved to Fremont, Calif., in 1990.
Mrs. Hawk was an avid lover of music. Her home was full of music with her family, and she loved to sing. She and her sister played in an all-girl dance band back in the 1920s called "The Tomboy Tunesmiths."
She was a member of the Colfax Methodist Church in Colfax, Calif.
Mrs. Hawk was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy R. Hawk, on July 14, 1991; a son, LeRoy "Pete" Hawk; two granddaughters, Kathryne and Julia Hawk; a sister; Doris A. Sharp; and two brothers, Owen K. Strine and Clyde McLenon Strine.
She is survived by two daughters and one son, Deloris A. Anderson of Fremont, Calif., Lois Kay Goulart of Newark, Calif., and Thomas K. Hawk of Durham, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
