Faith, June 15 --- Funeral services for Paul Byrne, Faith publisher and mayor, were held Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. Cushing of Dupree officiating. Burial was in the Faith cemetery under the direction of the F. O. Jolley Funeral home at Sturgis.
Byrne passed away at his home Saturday morning at the age of 49. He was born at Miranda April 8, 1896, and came to Faith in 1929 and took over the Independent in 1937. He recently purchased the Faith Gazette and consolidated it with the Faith Independent which he and his wife published. Byrne practiced law in Faith for several years and was elected mayor this spring.
Surviving are his wife, two daughters, two sons and two foster children, and his mother who lives at Faulkton.
