DEADWOOD -- Services for Douglas Theodore "Ted" Byrne, 77, 4 Lincoln, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Wells-Ruth Funeral Home by the Rev. Ron Hennies of St. John's Episcopal Church.
Interment will be in Oakridge Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to St. John's Church.
Byrne died Tuesday in St. Joseph's Hospital.
Byrne was born April 14, 1902, in Faulk County to William and Mary Byrne. He attended Faulkton community and rural schools. He farmed and operated a garage in Faulkton before moving to Deadwood where he worked as a mechanic for several garages. He owned and operated the Pontiac agency in Deadwood and for the last 20 years owned and operated the Ted Byrne Auto Sales at Thunder Cove near Deadwood.
He married Virginia Yeater in Denver in 1950 and they made their home in Deadwood.
Byrne was a member of St. John's Church, a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 95 of Faulkton, a member of the Black Hills Consistory and the Naja Shrine Temple and was a life member of Elks Lodge 506 in Deadwood.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia, Deadwood; a son, Don Byrne, Fargo, N.D.; a daughter, Mrs. Sonny (Katherine) Hall of Chula Vista, Calif; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; a brother, Robert Byrne, Sun City, Ariz., and numerous nieces and nephews. Four brothers preceded him in death.
