Capt. William Fettyplace, son of Capt. Edward Fettyplace (1721-1805) was born at 19 Orne Street, Marblehead, MA, baptized at First Congregational Church. William was a Private and Quarter Gunner while in service during the Revolutionary War. He was very young when he died "aged 33 y."

He married 1st. on 13 Feb 1778, Sarah Doliber, b. 6 Sep 1761, m. 13 Feb 1778. She was the daughter of Richard and Sarah (Coffren) Doliber of Marblehead.

The children of William Fettyplace and Sarah Doliber were:

1.) Edward Fettyplace 3rd b. 1778 d. 4 Feb 1807; Capt. William Fettyplace, Jr. b. 1782 d. recorded 4 Nov 1809 on board the schooner "Fly" off the Island of Martinique. m. Sally Green b. 1784. Sally (Green) Fettyplace b. 1784, widow, m. 2 John Melzard, Jr. and became Sally (Green)(Fettyplace) Melzard d. 1856.

2.) Capt. William Fettyplace, Jr. bpt. 29 Sep 1782 death rec. 4 Nov. 1809. Married 18 Feb. 1816 Sarah "Sally" Green, dau. of Samuel Harris Green and Elizabeth Rhoades. After William's death, "Sally" married John H. Melzard, Jr. son of John Melzard and Mary Russell.

After William's wife Sarah died, he married second, Elizabeth Crowninshield, dau. of William and Jane "Jean" (Thompson) Crowninshield. William Fettyplace and Elizabeth (Crowninshield) Fettyplace had one child, a daughter Hannah Fettyplace b. 1788 m. 14 Feb 1808 Edward Trefry, Jr. bpt. 4 Nov 1787 death rec. 27 May 1820. Edward Trefry, Jr. was the son of Edward Trefry and Mrs. Miriam Dennis. Edward Trefry Jr. along with a relative James Trefry, Jr. Edward and James died together at sea. "Lost out of Capt. David Bruce, jr, at sea in a Vessel out of Boston."

Elizabeth (Crowninshield) Fettyplace married William Doliber, III on 15 Jan 1792. Marriage rec. as "Mrs. Wm. Fettesplace and Wm. Doliber" [Wm. III on their intention].

Aged 33 years. Hannah wife of

William was buried in his parents grave lot. His name was added to mother Elizabeth's headstone.
