Elizabeth E's maiden name was apparently Hill. She married William Blankenship in about 1837, probably in Monroe County, Tennessee, before they moved to Polk County in the early 1840's

Joseph William Blankenship's monograph in Knoxville Sentinel on Tuesday, Oct 30, 1917, says that William's father, Spencer, purchased a farm on Bat Creek, Monroe County, Tennessee, at the foot of the "Knobs" and brought up a large family. Col Leslie Blankenship's book, at p. 216, states that he married Elizabeth Lee, who was born 17 December 1807.
William must have moved with his family to near Conasauga about 1844, in time for the birth of sons Spencer, Francis Asbury, and Hiram by the year 1850. Although many in the family moved far from that location, William and Elizabeth stayed until their deaths. They were very likely ardent Methodists, naming many of their children after the patriarchs of that faith.
