Roy died in 1953.
Claire was in failing health from July of 1974 until her death at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was 88 years and 22 days old.
She was survived by 1 daughter, Bernice of East Alton; 1 grandson; 3 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Irene Shave of Galesburg, Illinois, and Sarah Funk of Hardin, Illinois.
Visitation was held after noon on 20 Feb 1975 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services were conducted there at 1 p.m. that afternoon. Claire was buried next to her husband, Roy.
