They lived in Alton, Madison County, Illinois for many years before moving to Hartford, Illinois in 1922. Myrtle was affiliated with the Methodist church from the time of her youth.
Myrtle suffered a stroke in September of 1954 and was in and out of hospitals several times after that. She went into a nursing home about 6 weeks prior to her death at Villa Terrace Convalescent Home. She was 72 years, 7 months and 27 days old.
She was survived by her husband, Jesse; 1 daughter, Irene Cope of Grafton, Illinois; 1 son, Russell J. Foval of Decatur, who served as superintendent of the Alton Recreation Commission for a time; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Burnett Shannon of Youngstown, Ohio; and 4 sisters, Lucy Walter of San Francisco, California, Claire Johnson of Godfrey, Illinois, Sarah Funk of Batchtown, Illinois, and Irene Pierce of Ottawa, Illinois.
In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by a son, Charles Foval.
Visitation was held at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, Illinois on 22 Apr 1955. Funeral services were conducted there at 2 p.m. on the afternoon of 24 Apr 1955.
