Mr. Douthit graduated from Lueders High School and McMurry College in Abilene. His parents were pioneer settlers at Lueders, Texas.

Survived by his wife; one daughter - Mrs. Glenn Rydl; two brothers - J.D. and Arnold Douthit; three sisters - Mrs. Doe Reagan, Mrs. Doris Long, Mrs. Lillie Barbee; two step-grandchildren.
