She was born in Winnfield, La. on May 28, 1941, the daughter of Earl Monroe Grice and Sybil Margaret Edwards Grice, and died on Sept. 6, 2009, in Centerville.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, J.D. Whatley.
She is survived by her sons, Buddy Whatley of Centerville and Richard Whatley of Texarkana, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and David Powell of Livingston; grandchildren, Jeremy Whatley, Kayleigh Powell, Haley Whatley, Jay Whatley, Carrie Whatley, Zac Powell, Ashley Lawhon and Josh Powell; five great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Aleene Ivie of Centerville, Peggy and John Morrow of The Woodlands and Willie and William Stutts of Groesbeck and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
