After Thomas died, the oldest son, Tunnard, emmigrated to the United States. Jane and the rest of the surviving children followed him within a year or two, settling initially in Delaware before continuing on to Illinois. The family settled in Peoria County, Illinois, but within a few years, Jane became ill and passed away from breast cancer. Her children, ranging in age from 5 to 19 years, were then taken in by relatives and the good people of Peoria County.
