Harry W. Billings was born September 27, 1894 at Paxton, Nebraska and died June 23, 1974 at Valentine, Nebraska after an illness of five months.
He moved with is parents to Keya Paha County on a ranch northeast of Carns where he grew to manhood. He served in the U.S. Army in World War I.
On March 31, 1921 he was married to Oma Ellen Jeffords and the them were born five children. They lived on the ranch until 1939 when he moved his family to Burton and he began work for the county which was to last for 32 years. From 1948 to the time of his death he lived in Springview.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Cecil. Survivors are his wife Oma; one son, Jack of Beatrice, Nebraska; three daughters, Mrs. John (Wanda) Graham, Valentine, Nebraska; Mrs. Dale (Wava) Adcock, Huntsville, Alabama; and Mrs. Fred (Dian) Egelhoff, Springvieiw; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was a loving father and greatly enjoyed his grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 26 at the United Methodist Church in Springview with the Pastor Owen Pichler, Valentine, officiating. Pallbearers were gransdsons, Rod Billings, Marvin Billings, Ron Billings, Mark Billings, David Billings and Douglas Adcock. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
