Death of ANDREW BAKER , for fifty years a resident of Muscatine County and well known to old settlers, died a 6 o'clock this morning at his home in Park Place, after an illness of several weeks, with strangulation of the bowels.
Mr. Baker had attained the age of 73 year and was born in Ohio.
He came to this county in 1842 for the purpose of visiting friends.
Being favorably impressed with the advantages to be gained in this then new country, Mr. Baker decided to locate here and in 1847 took up his residence at Pleasant Prairie, where he remained until 1889, when he moved to Muscatine.
He is survived by two sons ,;
JOHN of Shark County Arkansas, and
CHARLES residing in Oregon.
He is a brother of ex-Supervisor HARVEY BAKER, now deceased, and a brother-in-law of ex-Sheriff James EATON now living in Summitville, Iowa.
The funeral will take place Saturday morning, at 11 o'clock, with service in Pleasant Prairie church.----
