Neeses - J. Lanair Kennerly, 68, a retired employee with the state Highway Department, died Sunday in an Orangeburg hospital. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. George Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Kennerly was born in Orangeburg County, a son of Cecil Kennerly and Nealy Whisenhunt Kennerly. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. George Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Merle Griffith Kennerly; a daughter, Sandra Nettles of Springfield; three sons, Johnnie L. Kennerly Jr. of Campobello, Phillip Kennerly of Neeses and Edward Kennerly of Elloree; a sister, Truette Moorer of Holly Hill; and four grandchildren. © The Post and Courier, Charleston, SC, 29 Nov 1993
