William Washington was born William Washington Easterwood Sr and Susan Lee. He was born about 4 months after his father was killed during the Civil War, dying from exposure and inflicted wounds.

His mother, sisters and other relatives traveled by wagon train to Idaho then to Oregon. He married Lucy Keeler in 1892. To this union were born three children, Flora L (Knox), William Delbert, and Pearl E.

Bill was a Blacksmith by trade in the 1900 census.
