SYLVANIA, Ga. - Mr. John Cleveland "J.C." Brown died Saturday morning at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. He was born in Bulloch County, was a Korea War veteran of the U.S. Army, was a member of the Farmdale Baptist Church and was a welder with the Georgia Ports Authority. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Cleveland and Nancy Frances Williams Brown, two daughters, Deborah Jean Brown and Brenda Sue Brown, one son, John Cleveland brown Jr., one brother, Charles Brown, a half brother, C.B. Jones and two sisters, Lucille Black and Mary Hagin. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela B. and Kenneth Sapp, Claxton; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Bessie Ree Tucker, Silver City, N.M, Allie Mae and Burr Hagins, Valiant, Okla., Raynita Lyons, Winder, Ga., Frances and Jack Turner, Portal, Ga., and Kathryn and Ray Parker, Rocky Ford, Ga., five granchildren, seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held Monday, July 12 at 11 a.m. at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Leveritt and the Rev. Vernon Edenfield officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Bulloch County. Deacons of Farmdale Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home. Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
