Helen D. Nelson

On Thanksgiving morning, November 22, 2012, at her daughter's home, Helen D. Nelson, age 95, joined a host of family and friends on the streets of Heaven. Among those present, was her husband of 66 years, August W. Nelson, a 5 yr. old son, Larry Wayne Nelson and a great, great grandbaby who preceded her in death.

Helen was born March 31, 1917 in Burnt Prairie, Illinois to the late Harry B. and Laura Utterback. She was a life-long member of the Church of God, (Anderson). Her life was one of great faith and wisdom. Her daily prayers for her children and grandchildren will be truly missed. One of her last comments was, "I leave this world content." We will all meet again in Heaven where there is no parting.

Helen is survived by her children Karen (Don) Tomlin, Indianapolis; Brenda Ranger, Indianapolis; Rev. Stephen (Glenda) Nelson, Jonesboro, LA; and Becky (Jim) McCoy, Lawrence; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.


Visitation will be held Monday, November 26 from 12 to 2 PM at Flanner and Buchanan - Community Life Center, 10612 E. Washington St. Indianapolis with a Service beginning at 2 PM. Her son, Rev. Stephen Nelson, will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
