Goldie Isadora Schowalter, 77, died April 20 at Greater Community Hospital in Creston. She was a native of Carbon, but had made her home in Creston since 1953.
Services were held Tuesday, April 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston with burial to be in West Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.
Mrs. Schowalter was born May 31, 1907, in Carbon, daughter of Ben and Martha Dixon Brown.
She was married to Emil Schowalter Nov. 25, 1929, in Atlantic. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Schowalter was a lifelong resident of Adams and Union counties. She had worked as a surgical aide at Greater Community Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1968.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in Naomi Circle and Bible Study. She was a Sunday school teacher, and had served many years as Sunday school treasurer at the Villisca Lutheran Church.
She helped with the Creston Congregate meal program.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Van Wyk of Des Moines. Her parents and two brothers died previously.
