M. Jeanne Lindburg, 89, of Matherville, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service. Burial will be in Viola Cemetery. Douglas R. Schoonover, chaplain of Trinity Pathway Hospice, will officiate. Memorials may be left for Matherville Community Church. Pallbearers are Lyle Schnowske, Bob Breshears Sr., Kevin Harkas, Eric Lindburg, Danny Hays and Bill Barnes. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Anderson, David Nelson and Bill Hays.

Jeanne was born April 18, 1918, in Shale City, Ill., the daughter of Millard and Luna Awbrey Whitt. She was raised and educated in the Shale City and Matherville area. Jeanne married LaVerne Lindburg April 11, 1935, at Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island. LaVerne died Dec. 3, 1994.

Jeanne was a devoted wife and mother. As a writer of poetry, Jeanne was published often and was requested to recite her poems many times in her own circle. She also enjoyed crafts, crossword puzzles, bingo, embroidery, crochet, canning, reading, traveling and having family gatherings. for which she prepared wonderful meals.

Survivors (and spouses) include her four children, Millard (Diane) Lindburg, Andover, Marlena Hays and Bob Breshears, Sherrard, Sheila (Bill) Hays, Matherville, and Jake (Mary) Lindburg, Regan, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren. Preceding her in death, in addition to her beloved husband, were daughter, Linda Brown; her parents; two brothers, Shelby and Bud; five sisters, Dorothy, Sylvia, Gladys, Etheleen and Wilma; and a granddaughter, Kathy.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Trinity West and Trinity Hospice for the caring time given by them to Jeanne and her family.
