Chorister of Zion's Blue Mountain Church - Became Unconcious After Eating 3 Eggs
and Remained in That Condition 3 Days Until His Death
Strausstown: William A. Dietrich, chorister of Zion's Blue Mountain Church, died on Wednesday at 5 p.m. of softening of the brain He was 37 years 6 months and 15 days old. Deceased was a son of Joel F. and Catharine Dietrich (nee Unger), and had been ailing about a year, but was only confined to bed a week.He is survived by his widow Sallie (nee Pottieger), his parents and these brothers and sisters: Frank, of Leinbach's P.O.; George, Reading; Milton, Reading; Mrs. Charles J. Christman, of this place; Mrs. Wm. J. Kenney, of Phila.; Mrs. Calvin Himmelberger, of Tulpehocken; Mrs. Levi Christman, of Tulpehocken; Isaac, of Jefferson; Mrs. Moses G. Ebling, of Upper Tulpehocken,
and John, of Rehrersburg. Funeral on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. Services and interment at Zion's Blue Mountain Church. Revs. Pfleuger and Leinbach will
officiate. Deceased was a chorister and organist at the church for 7 years, and also organist of Zion's Union Sunday school. On Monday he was asked what he
would relish for breakfast. He replied that several soft-boiled eggs would be agreeable, and 3 of them were given to him. After he had finished this meal he
fell into a stupor, and remained in that condition until his death. Some months ago he was attacked with malarial fever, and it is thought this led to other complications which terminated in his death.He was well known and had a host of friends. He instructed many young people in
vocal music free of charge.
