STRUCK WITH AXE - WOMAN IS SLAIN

Mrs. Mollie Glover Found Dead In Her Bed

Bristol, Tenn, april 25 - Mrs. Mollie Glover, a woman thirty years of age was found dead in her bed at the home of Cyl Luttrell on Second Street shortly after midnight this morning with her head split open and almost severed from the body. A large bloody axe found lying under the bed told the story.

The murder was committed about 11 o'clock and is shrouded in mystery, though Cyl Luttrell has been arrested and is in jail on suspicion. He is about 57 years of age and an old employee of the norfolk and Western Railway Company.

Luttrell, who was working last night, claimed that he left the house about 9 o'clock and locked the door and on returning about 11 o'clock, found the door as he had left it, and entering found the bed coverings completely over Mrs. Glover and things disturbed in the room. he says he raised the cover and the ghastly sight of the woman lying in a pool of blood, with the bed clothing completely saturated, met his eyes and he ran.

Late Reporting the Murder.

Luttrell did not report the murder for an hour and when arrested was very nervious and told what the police regard as flimsy tales of the circumstances leading up to the murder.

It is believed that the woman was at Luttrell's house for immoral purposes. Luttrell has a wife and large family of grown children. The police say his past reputation in this respect has been shady and they do not doubt but that the reintions of Luttrell and Mrs. Glover were intimate and she cam to his house to stay during the night.

The woman was struck with the axe, probably twenty times and the police have no clue to the guilty parties. Mrs. Glover had a refined appearance and was considered good looking.

MURDER IS STILL A MYSTERY
_________
Luttrell Still Held, but No Proof Against Him.

Bristol, Tennessee, April 25 - The murder of Mrs. Mollie Glover, who was murdered whil asleep at the house of Sylvester Luttrell, on Tuesday night, is still a mystery and the police are puzzled. After the woman was found in the bed with her head split open with an axe and chapped almost entirely off, Sylvester Luttrell was arrested and is still held on suspicion, though evidence adduced in the inbestigations of the coroner's jury yesterday, would seem to establish his innocence.

The coroner's jury is still making investigations and hearing evidence. The police have a clue, which may result in the arrest of a woman on the charge of murder.
