children: Sanford b. 1856, Theodosia b. 1859 & Laura b. 1861. 2nd marriage to Francis Callaway Wise. They had 2 daughters; Cora b. 1869 & Mary b, 1872.
7. John Irving, Jr. b. 1838 d. 1839 (on the way to Texas)

**The family story is a young brother born 9 May 1848, Charles Washington Ellis a boy of thirteen was determined to go to WAR was in the flat boat with his brother and the father John Irving Ellis, equipped his fine horse and took two mules to New Orleans to retrieve Charley. Had him mustered out of the army
and made him ride a mule all the way from New Orleans to Crockett, Texas.**
