Lucinda J. Cotton, was among the 4th generation of the McGavock family. She was the daughter of Amanda Malvina McGavock and Turner Smith.

Lucinda married Robert F. Cotton on Sept 19, 1865. Robert was the son of Allen Cotton and Mary, nee Barham. Robert was born in Davidson County, Tennessee July 24, 1838. AFter they married the couple lived on a farm in the Grassland area of Williamson County, near Franklin, TN.

The couple had one daugher, Amanda Lucy Cotton who was born on June 30, 1866. Given that Lucinda and Robert married in 1865 and Lucinda died in May of 1869, it is very likely that Lucinda passed away in childbirth.
