James N. "Hogan" Traphagan, 49, of 418 S. Cottage Grove died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born July 17, 1948, in Kewanee to James and Mildred I. Scott Traphagan.

Surviving are his father and stepmother, James and Tina Traphagan of Wyoming; his stepfather and mother, Russell and Mildred Wolland of Dunlap; two sons, Hogan and Kristopher, both of Chillicothe; one brother, Wayne of Dunlap; and one sister, Carol Norman of Princeville, with whom he made his home.

He owned and operated Hogan's Place in Dunlap for many years. Later a civil service employee, he worked in maintenance at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio until he became disabled in 1988. An Army veteran, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria, where military rites will be accorded.
