Hettie Carothers
Former Arlington Heights resident Hettie Carothers , 87, died Feb. 28 at River Park Health Care Center in Rock Island. A family-only interment service took place in Rose Lawn Cemetery in Moline on March 3.
Klara Erna Herta Schild was born March 24, 1910, in Hamberg, Germany. She came to Chicago with her family and later moved to Moline, married Harvey Charles Carothers on June 29, 1929, in Clinton, Iowa.
They moved to Arlington Heights in 1958 and were members of Faith Lutheran Church. Their retirement years were spent residing in Moline and traveling.
Survivors include her husband Harvey ; a son Don (Jan) Carothers of Moline; daughter Linda (Jim) Houdek of Palatine; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Harvey Jr., who died in 1987 in Palatine.
