"CHARLES STURGIS -
Services were held Sunday afternoon in the Moravian Church for Charles Edwin Sturgis, seventy-eight, formerly of this borough, who died Wednesday, May 23, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Myrl S. Baker, York. Interment was made in the Moravian Cemetery.
Early in life, he learned the printing trade working in the plant of the Lititz Record and the Lancaster New Era. For thirty years he worked as a railway mail clerk, retiring June 5, 1939.
Born in Lititz, a son of the late Nathan O. and Sarah C. Stark Sturgis, he was a member of the Moravian Church and the Men's Bible Class of the Sunday School. He also was a member of the Railway Mail Association and the Lititz Fire Company.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are one daughter, Helen J., wife of Myrl S. Baker, with whom he resided; a brother, Nathan O. Sturgis, Jr., Zion Home, and a half-brother, Robert Markley."
