Mrs. Elizabeth A. Curtin of Bellefonte died in the Chambersburg hospital September 27 She had been a guest at the Episcopal Home at Shippensburg for about a year and suffered a stroke about a week ago.
Mrs. Curtin was born at Bellefonte, a daughter of John and Mari L. Crittenden Ardell in 1918. She married Harry H. Curtin who died in 1936. She lived at Curtin for many years and before going to Shippensburg. She lived in the Centre Co. Library apartments.
She attended Bellefonte Academy and graduated in nursing at the Brooklyn Hospital, Brooklyn, NY.
Her paternal grandfather John Ardell was a noted Centre Count lumberman. Rev. Richard Crittenden, her maternal grandfather was a prominent Sunday school pioneer and missionary to the Cornplanter Indians. He founded the Union Chapel at Pleasant View.
A son Harry H. Curtin Jr. of Wayne, a sister, Mrs. Eleanor A. Wilcox, Norfolk, Va., and 3 grandchildren survive.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Bellefonte. The funeral service was held at the church, September 29 with Ven. Clarence C. Reimer rector officiating. She was buried at Eagle cemetery at Curtin.
