Excerpt from Virginia Chiles Higgason's diary, June 10, 1886. Of the death of her youngest sister she wrote :
"How sad and sorry I feel, how much to regret; if we only knew how short a time we have to be together, how tender and kind we would be. Just last Saturday she was here and today placed in the grave. I am to have the baby and Mollie [will take] Mabel."
