The son of John & Hester Ann (Burris) Mosier of Morgan Co IN, John married widow Ann (Dixon) Anderson on 28 Aug 1868 in Morgan Co IN, daughter of John & Ann (Seymore/Seymour) Dixon of Ireland, late of Morgan Co IN.

Children with Ann:
1) Sarah Rebecca Mosier (1868-1963); m. John Elsworth Miller (1868-1951).
2) James Roland Mosier Jr (1870-1922); m. Jessie Centennial Bain (1876-1937).
3) Hester Ann Mosier (1873-1963); m. Luther L Miller (1872-1961).
4) Infant Daughter Mosier (1876-1876).
5) Infant Son Mosier (1879-1879).

"JAMES R MOSIER was born in Lawrence Co IN, Aug 16, 1844 and is a son of John and Esther (Burris) Mosier, natives of NC and OH respectively, who moved to this county in 1845, where Mr. Mosier died twenty years later. Mrs. Mosier subsequently married Joseph Lain and still later, George Moore. Our subject, James R Mosier, enlisted Aug 14, 1862 in Co H, 79th Indiana Regiment Indiana Volunteers and served until Apr 1863, having been shot through the shoulder at the battle of Stone River. Sep 1863, he enlisted in Co D, 117th Indiana Regiment, serving six months and again enlisted Mar 1864 in Co K, 1st Indiana Regiment and served until Jan 1866. Aug 28, 1868 he married Mrs. Ann, widow of David Anderson and daughter of John and Ann Dixon, by which union they had five children, Sarah R, James R, Hester A and two infants, deceased. Mr. Mosier is a highly respected citizen."
