1st Earl of Pembroke (fourth creation), Lord Abergavenny and Baron Hastings

Son of Sir John de Hastings, 2nd Baron Hastings and Juliana Leyburn. Grandson of Henry de Hastings and Joan de Cantelou, Sir Thomas de Leyburn and Alice de Toeni.

Laurence married Lady Agnes de Mortimer, the daughter of Roger de Mortimer and Joan de Geneville. They had one son, John de Hastings, the 2nd Earl of Pembroke.

Laurence succeeded to Lord Abergavenny and Lord Hastings in 1325 and was created Earl of Pembroke in 1339. He fought at the Battle of Sluys in 1340, the Siege of Tournai in 1340 and the Siege of Calais in 1346.
