OBITUARY: The Shreveport Times, Shreveport LA, 26 Dec 1990
Bossier City, LA – Services will be conducted at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, La. For Mrs. Ruby L. McBroom, 72, of Bossier City, Wednesday, December 26, 1990 at 2:30 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Maxie Haynes. Interment will be at Centuries Memorial Park. She passed away Saturday, December 22, 1990 at Schumpert Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mrs. McBroom was a native of Roxie, Miss. And lived in Shreveport and Bossier for most of her life. She was a member of Greenacres Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, M. L. Farmer and her second husband, J. H. McBroom. She is survived by: son, Jim Farmer and wife, Sara and their children, Mike, Steve and Staci Farmer; three daughters, Patsy Farmer Nichols and husband, Ronnie and their children, Chuck, Marty, Hope and Krickett. Mary McBroom Shaver and husband, Hutch and their children, Brian and Cody. Jessie McBroom Morell and husband, Joe and their children, Kelli and Amy; one sister, Mrs. Doris Tyler of Shreveport; eight great grandchildren Angie, Synda, Matthew, Lacy, Sierra, George, Kim and Michelle. Several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Sid Morell, Mike Farmer, Steve Farmer, Marty Smith, Brian Shaver and nephew, Steve Walker. Visitation for friends will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. til service time. Mrs. McBroom's family would like to send a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the SICU unit at Schumpert Hospital.
Ruby was the daughter of Charles Allexander Offutt and Lillian Welch. She married 1) Martin Luther Farmer on 27 December 1937 in Caddo Parish, La., and 2) Jesse Herbert McBroom on 3 August 1949 in Caddo Parish, La. Ruby and Martin had children: James Martin and Patricia Ann Farmer. Ruby and Jesse had children: Mary Elizabeth and Jessie Lee McBroom." (Bio by Doug McBroom)
