Born in Helena, Oct. 2, 1926, to the late Albert and Eddie May (Davis) Anders, Madeline lived most of her 71 years in the Helena area. While in her teens she worked at the family business, the Nugget Café, where she met Bing Miller, a Helena soldier home on leave. The couple were married June 5, 1946, and had four children.
Madeline worked in various Helena restaurants, retiring in 1977 due to poor health. She was very proud of the fact that after her children were raised she returned to school and received her GED.
In the early 1960s she acted as secretary-treasurer of the Association of Retarded Children. This was an organization that she and Bing helped create.
Madeline loved to hunt, camp and fish and upon occasion would get the "last laugh" by out-fishing Bing.
After having a stroke in 1977, Madeline became an avid television watcher and loved game shows. Her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Darlene and Norman Scott of Helena, her son and daughter-in-law Darrell and Karen Miller of Clancy; five grandchildren, Curt Scott, Crystal Courtney, Cari Harris, Britni Miller and Erica Miller; four great grandchildren, Britni Headley, Alex and Brooke Courtney and Craig Harris. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Bill and Margaret Anders, brother-in-law Doug Cary, sisters-in-law Audrey Anders and Doris Anders, all of Helena; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her beloved husband Bernard "Bing" Miller; two daughters Verna Monette and Diana Gail; two brothers, Albert Anders, Jr. and Howard Anders; and her sister Freda Mae Cary.
The family requests memorials to the Diana Miller Memorial Fund, Montana Development Center, P.O. Box 87, Boulder, MT 59632-0087, or to the charity of your choice.
Chapel services will be held Wednesday, June 24, at 11 a.m. in Linden's Herrmann and Company Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Moody of the United Methodist Church of Clancy officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Helena Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. All family and friends are invited to a luncheon at Darlene Scott's home, 4790 Canyon Ferry Road, following Committal Services.
