"My father William McGinnis was born at Crab Orchard Kentucky in the year 1807, and in early boyhood ran away from his people and went to Wayne County, Kentucky where he learned the trade of stone mason, which was his principal occupation through life. His mother was a Dutch woman, born in Amsterdam, and when I saw her once, when I was very small, she could barely speak English. Her name was Bodenheimer."

--From the James Crain McGinnis manuscript in possession of Gregory Dunn.

William McGinnis and James R. Crain (Find A Grave Memorial# 54670992) died the same day and are buried together.
