"Hon. Jas. Crain McGinnis, of St. Louis, Mo., whose remains were interred in the Pulaski cemetery, Tuesday, was born in Pulaski Co., Ky., July 19, 1830. At the age of 17 he enlisted and served until the close of the Mexican war. In 1862 he enlisted in the Union army and served as major of the 6th Mo. Infantry, until the close of the war; was admitted to the bar in 1867, and entered upon the practice of law. In 1868 he was elected to the state legislature from St. Louis and served continuously as a member of the house and senate until his death, which occurred at his country home near Houstonia, Mo., Saturday, Aug. 19. The funeral services were held Monday at the family residence in St. Louis. Rev. Canaday conducted the burial service at the cemetery, Tuesday morning.

Among the funeral party were Mrs. J.C. McGinnis, Dr. R.W. McGinnis of East Lynn, Mo., Dr. H.F. McGinnis, of Holden, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. C.T. Batham, of Housonia, Mo., C.S. and C.D. McGinnis, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McGinnis, of Cameron, Mo., and Mrs. Mary Gloss, of Evanston, Ill. The family returned to St. Louis Tuesday evening."
