Donald L. Koresko, 44, of Aledo, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, after a courageous battle with ALS.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Messiah Lutheran Church, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Donald's Children's Educational Fund.

Donald was born Feb. 7, 1956, in Aledo to Andrew and Amy (Gustafson) Koresko Jr. He married Joydene Davis on March 20, 1982, in Aledo.

Donald was a graduate of Aledo High School and attended Black Hawk College -East Campus. He farmed for many years with his father. Currently, Don was working for Dohrn Transfer in Rock Island, where he truly enjoyed his work.

Donald was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, acting as bell choir director and Sunday school superintendent. He was a member of Aledo Music Boosters with Aledo schools and a member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed attending all of his children's sporting and muscial events.

Donald loved his family and was a great inspiration to so many with the courage of fighting ALS. He will be greatly missed by the many family and friends who loved him.

Donald is survived by his wife, Joydene; children, Lindsay and Ryan, at home; parents, Andrew and Amy Koresko Jr., Aledo; two brothers, three sisters and their spouses, Keith Koresko, Burlington, Carol Hansen, Rock Island, Philip and Nancy Koresko, Aledo, Doris and Tom Swinburn, East Moline and Donna and Bill Pinger, Keithsburg; father and mother-in-law, Mardyne and Joyce Davis, Milan and two brothers-in-law, Mark and Jackie Davis, Milan and Keith Davis, Fort Worth, Texas. Donald was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin, and his grandparents.
