Born July 29, 1917, in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late Samuel P. and Clara A. Garman Bittner.
She was a member of Jacob United Church of Christ, Fairfield.
In 1935, she graduated with high honors from Greencastle High School.
A homemaker, her hobbies included crocheting, needlepoint, and working with crafts.
For most of her adult life, she lived with her sister, Dorothy L. Martin, who is now deceased. Also preceding her death were five brothers, Lester G. Bittner, Robert E. Bittner, Harold A. Bittner, John A. Bittner, and Harry L. Bittner.
Surviving is two sons, Jon A. Witmer of Memphis, Tenn., and Dr. Dan Witmer of Harrisonburg, Va.; two brothers, Samuel G. Bittner of Hagerstown, Md., and Howard E. Bittner of Peru, Ill.; nieces; and nephews.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., with the Rev. Janet Comings officiating. The burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade, Md.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the funeral home.
