Rowena Phipps Andrew, 93, of Marion, died Thursday, September 22, 1994, in Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home in Marion. She was formerly of Salem and Bluefield, W.Va. She was born March 18, 1901, in Glade Spring, Va. a daughter of the late George Palmer Phipps and Minnie Lee Sasher Phipps.

She was the widow of Thomas Clifford Andrew. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Uva Mae Phipps Crowell and grandson, Thomas C. Andrew III.

She is survived by one son, Colonel Thomas C. Andrew Jr., U. S. Marine Corps, retired-Marion; one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne A. and Gerald M. Pace, Salem; two grandsons and wives, G. Michael and Nancy Pace, Salem, Jon A. and Elen Pace, Richmond; one granddaughter, Noel Crowell Andrew, Havelock, N.C.; two stepgranddaughters, Mitzi R. Howell, Atlanta, Ga., Melissa J. Brister, Panama City, Fla.; three stepgrandsons, Edwin F. Jackson and Christopher F. Jackson, Fayetteville, N.C, Richard V. Rector, Marion; two great-granddaughters, Maggie Pace, Salem, Claire Pace, Richmond; her special friends, Mary E. Bush, Norma W. Blevins, Mildred Zirkle, Salem and Lieutenant Colonel William A. Allauson, U. S. Marine Corps, retired, Arlington, Va.; three special cousins, C. C. and Betty Brock, Alexandria, Va. and Margaret R. Booher, Charlotte, N.C.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Barnett's Funeral Chapel Monday, September 26, 1994, at 1 p.m. with Rev. J. N. Howard officiating. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery in Bristol, Va. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. before the funeral service.
