Walter was united in marriage on July 26, 1950 at Mystic, IA to Darlene Shiltz. He served his country during WWll in the Army's 37th Infantry from September 6, 1944 until his honoraable discharge on April 4, 1946. He worked 26 years at John Morrell Packing Co. and 10 years at Hormel Packing Co. as a laborer. He was a member of the Moulton Christian Church and was a member of the American Legion in Moulton.
Walter was preceded in death by: his parents and one grandson, Christopher Martin.
Surviving family members are: wife, Darlene Martin of Moulton, IA; 3 sons, Walter "Max" Martin and his wife, Diane of Aloha, Oregon, Alan Wayne Martin and his wife, Mary of Sioux City, IA and Anthony Lee Martin of Centerville, IA; one sister, Cora Perry of California and 4 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at 1pm at the Moulton Christian Church in Moulton, IA with Rev. Reg Higginbottom officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset View Cemetery in Moulton, IA with full Military Honors conducted by Burl McClure Post #280.
Visitation will be held from 1-8pm, Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, IA. The family will receive friends between 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society or to the family.
