Edgar came to Okla from Tenn in the fall of 1880. He was the 11th of 12 children born to Ransom Marian Key and Margerit S. McGhee.

Married Maud May Salsman Nov.25,1900 Cameron, Indian Terrtory, Central District, OK. They had 3 children. An infant son born and died 1901, daughter Opal Key Reed and son Owen Robert Key (my father). Maud & Edgar were divorced in Aug.1921. To my knowledge, he never remarried.

He was member of Moshulatubee Masonic Lodge #13 at Cameron in 1906 and Poteau Lodge #46 in 1929. He was deputy sheriff under Sheriff George Noble, and with about sixty convicts out of McAlester built the roads through the mountains of the Choctaw Nation. After a failed run for Sheriff of Le Flore county he was appointed US Deputy Marshall from about 1916-1921 under US Marshal B.A. Enloe.

Mr. Key died of Cardiac/Asthma. The date of birth on death certificate is incorrectly stated as April 1,1867. Confirmed by his son, my father, Owen Key & statement written by Edgar's brother, Charles, 18 years his senior.
