Daisy was the 7th of 8 children of George R. Barnes and Rosie Kincaid. Daisy married Charles William "Billy" Moreland. It was still during the Great Depression. Daisy and Billy moved around quite a bit. They didn't have many material things during that period, but they had a happy home, keeping warm in the winter and had enough to eat, even if it was potatoes, gravy and bread. Things changed for the better when they moved to California.

A photo here shows Daisy and Billy and 3 children. Unfortunately, I don't have much information on them. (1) Barbara, who married Stanley Justis, and (2) Evelyn "Eve" Lyn, who married Mr. Hokanson. Eve died in 2002 and is buried under the name Eve Lyn Moreland in the Old Auburn Cemetery in Auburn, Placer County, California. (3) Sheila Kay Moreland 1939-1954.

Daisy and Billy moved to California in 1943. Billy worked in the shipyards in Alemeda and Daisy worked from time to time in different factories, but felt it was imporatant to be home with their youngest daughter, Sheila. The family moved to Livermore, California in 1945 and this is where they bought their first home. Billy worked on the U. S. Navy base. Daisy worked for 3 years at the Veterans Hospital in Livermore. When the Navy base closed Billy transferred to a base in Oakland, California where they lived for about 2 years, leaving because Billy didn't like what he'd heard about the junior high school Sheila would be attending. They next moved to Clipper Gap, near Auburn, California.

Billy worked for the government until he retired in 1964. After Billy retired, they bought a small travel trailer and enjoyed camping and fishing, traveling in California, Oregon and Washington, especially along the coast. Due to Daisy's heart condition, they had to stay at low elevations and where it was cool. Billy and Daisy enjoyed their time at home, and were busy with family, grandchildren, and were members of the World War 2 Veterans Club and the Neighbor Club.

Billy died on April 30, 1971. Daisy sold their home about a year later. She said it was too lonely and too much property and moved to Rocklin located about 15 miles south of Auburn. In 1986, Daisy and daughter Eve decided to live together, and did until Daisy's death. Daisy died at the age of 80 at her home in Auburn, California. The memorial service for Daisy was held at the First Baptist Church of Auburn.
