Elizabeth "Bettie" Parker was a daughter of Elijah Parker and his wife Nancy Rogers. Her second husband's family Bible gives her birth date as 3 Oct. 1862, but her death certificate and the tombstone transcript say 5 Oct. 1860.

Bettie married three times, first to Andrew W. Bass (1828-1904) of Union County, on 20 Sept. 1899, second to Jeremiah Washington Beachum (1830-1910) on 3 April 1907. He was a Confederate veteran, and prosperous farmer and merchant in Anson County. After his death, she married George P. Hendley (1860-1937).

I've often heard my grandmother (a granddaughter of J. W. Beachum) speak of her step grandmother, whom she called "Grandma Bettie." Many thanks to Ann M. Price for the information on Bettie's first marriage.
