"Samuel Dickson died Monday forenoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bert Middaugh, in Youngstown, after a short illness with heart trouble. Deceased was the last of five sons of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Dickson, pioneers of Canfield township. He was born in County Down, Ireland, 78 years ago last October and came with his parents to America when two years old, settling in Canfield. Here and in Ellsworth he spent his entire life, for many years following farming. For a considerable time he served as assessor in Canfield village and township. He was a man of many excellent parts, held in high esteem by all who knew him. Surviving him are his wife and the following children; G. A. R, and C. R. Dickson of Brownsville, Ind., Mrs. William Dickson of Richmond, Ind., Edgar Dickson of Homestead, Pa. W. J. Dickson of Canfield and Mrs. Bert Middaugh of Youngstown. Funeral services conducted by Rev. T. L. Kiernan from the home of W. J. Dickson Wednesday afternoon were largely attended. The remains were laid to rest in the village cemetery."
