Was born in Garrott Co Ky Nov 14 1845. When he was 4-years old he came to Missouri settling in Grundy Co where he grew to manhood and on June 10 1866 was united in marriage with Miss Emma E Henderson. To this union were born 7 sons and three daughters, six of them survive. Mr Harris left Mo in 1889, moving his family to Madison Co Ark where they lived forty years, moving from there to Delaware Co Okla in the fall of 1903, settling on a farm near Grove where he resided until the death of his companion five years ago. Since which time he made his home with his children . He was a soldier of the rebellion having volunteered in Regiment No 13 Mo Volunteers. Was converted and obeyed his Master when a young man and for many years a member of M E church but in latter years of the Christian church. He was a good citizen, a good husband and father, loyal to his home country and God. Those who remain on this side of the valley and shadow of death are: Mrs M N Colley, Spickartville Mo; Mrs W L Ice, Tulsa; S E Harris, Stockton Calif; L E Harris and Mrs W O Benigar of Pagosa Colo; and L N Harris -of Stilwell. A soldier has fallen on the great battlefield of life. He went down in the midst of the fiercest of the fight but he was well armed. He passed over the divide into the great beyond at 11:30 a m Sept 15 1922. His feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace, his breast wore the plate of righteousness, Shield of faith and the Sword of the Spirit. Though he fell and lost, yet he conquered and won the crown. Services were held at Christian church in Grove conducted by the writer and burial In Olympus cemetery Sept 16 1922 at 2:30 p m
