After her mother died when Elsie was seven she lived with her sister Hannah Hamman until she married Charles Funkhouser at age 17.
Elsie was a member of The Pine Grove Methodist Church. She married Charles Funkhouser on Sept. 27, 1903.
Elsie was the mother of nine children, Ruth, Raymond, Marvin, Blair, Elva Jean, Qllie "Jane", Ermine Earl, Naomi Bell and Pauline.
