ATCHISON DEATHS
An Old Citizen
Charles J. Drury died Saturday morning at his home on Second and Santa Fe streets, of conjestion of the lungs.
Mr. Drury was born in Danville, Missouri, and was 68 years of age. In 1859 he located in Doniphan and was a clerk in a drug store. Two or three years later he moved to Atchison and became a clerk for Theodore Bartholow in a wholesale grocery house, to which business in company with D. C. Robbins, he succeeded when Mr. Bartholow removed to Jewell City. Afterwards he was associated with George T. Challiss and W. F. Dolan, at different times, in the mercantile jobbing business. He also had some banking interests in later years. He was married to Miss Virginia B. Bartholow April 7, 1887. He was successful in business and highly esteemed. For forty-four years he was a part of the business and social life of the city and no history of Atchison would be complete which did not have him among the most prominent and useful citizens. The funeral occurred from Trinity church Sunday afternoon, Rev. F. S. white conducted the services.
