He became a teacher and minister of the Church of Christ. He is listed in Preachers of Today, Vol. 1, 1952, 61.

He had been living in Bald Knob when he was killed in a plane crash Friday, Sept. 1, 1972, near Thayer, Missouri. The wreckage of the small Cessna plane was found Thursday.

A funeral service were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the New Home Church of Christ,

He was survived by four sons, of Moore, Oklahoma, Arizona, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and Lawton, Oklahoma; two daughters, of Moore, Oklahoma and Columbus, Ohio; three brothers, Forrest of Dell City, Okla., Clive of Eaugalie, Fla. and Dale of Red Star; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Beard of Kingston and his mother, Mrs. Lydia Spears Callaway of Red Star and five grandchildren.

Burial, under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home was in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
