Philip was a son of Adam Hoffmann, who emigrated from Germany. He was also the widower of Julia Ott Hoffmann. Their children were Dr. John Adam Hoffmann, Dean of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music; William Frederick, Walter, who died as an infant, and a little girl named Carolina. Philip was also the grandfather of John Frederick Hoffmann of Atlanta, GA.
Philip lived to be 68 and died in Springfield. His photo in the gold locket we have had for many years is one of our family treasures.
