OBITUARY

Letha Mae Burkhart, 92, of New Philadelpia passed away peacefully Friday, Aug 6, 2010 in the home of her grandchildren. She was born June 14, 1918 to the late David Edward and Clara Alzenia (nee Holmes) Blake in Moundsville, WV. Letha has resided in the Tuscarawas Valley area most of her life. She retied after 25 years from Alsco Anaconda. Letha was an active member of the Eagles and was on a Lady's Bowling League for many years and previously attended the Church of Christ. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting and was an avid baker. Letha is survived by 4 daughters, Ruby Hammel of Mineral City, Velma Kandel of Dundee, Blondie Geraldine (Junior) Wise of Mineral City, and Betty Hershberger of Kimbolton; 1 son, Sherman (Karen) Burkhart of Mineral City; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ada Cooper of Dover and Wilda (John) Thomas of New Martinsville, WV; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Letha is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Burkhart; 2 sisters, Erma Howe and Ruth Evelyn Johnson; 1 brother, Raymond Blake; and a son-in-law, Roman "Dobie" Hershberger. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 803 N. Wooster Avenue, Dover, Oh. 44622 with Pastor Terry Passmore officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service in the funeral home from 12 to 2. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Following the committal service, attendants are invited to the Mineral City Nazarene Church for a dinner that as been prepared for a time of remembrance and fellowship.
