PANHANDLE (Spc.) - Services for Julius R. "Doc" Meaker Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church in White Deer.
The Rev. Jim Shamburg, pastor, will officiate. Masonic graveside rites will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Masonic Lodge 1188. Burial will be under the Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Meaker, a resident of Panhandle since 1910, died Tuesday. He was born in Princeville, Ill.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 1188, Eastern Star and the Lions Club, all of White Deer. He was also a Modern Woodmen of the World, a member of the National Rifle Association, and was a member of the White Deer school board for 14 years.
He was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Velma; two sons, Julius Jr. and Gilbert, both of Panhandle; a daughter, Mrs. Clara Hoskins of White Deer; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Sue Hooten of Little Rock, Ark.; Mrs. Barbar Wigginton of Wilberton, Okla., and Mrs. Pat Rhodes of Fort Worth; three brothers, Orlando and Charlie, both of Panhandle, and Purl of Pampa; 17 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to favorite charities or the White Deer Fire Department.
