Annette was the first born daughter of Joseph E Dwyer and Annette Magoffin. She was married on September 9th 1891 to George Joseph Francis Schmitt. They had four daughter; Annette, Elsie, Gertrude and Eleanor.
Annette's younger brother James' wife died shortly after giving birth to their second son, after which James asked if Annette would care for the young boys. Edward and Timothy stayed with her throughout their childhood and up until they left for college.
