Mrs. S. G. Tays

Mrs. S. G. Tays died Friday afternoon at 5:40 o’clock at her home on East End avenue, death following an illness of five months.

Mrs. Tays was Miss Mary Lucretia Anderson, prior to marriage, and was a native of Wilkes county, the daughter of N. R. Anderson and Mrs. Louvenia Johnson Anderson. She was born May 10, 1881.

Surviving are her husband; a son and daughter by a former marriage, Miss Ina Sharpe and Mr. Z. V. Sharpe, both of this city; three step-sons, Messrs. J. A and C. S. Sharpe, of Statesville, Mr. R. S., of Olin; and a step daughter, Mrs. A. L. Biddix, of Asheville. Three brothers and a sister also survives; Messrs. A. R., L. M., and J. N. Anderson, all of Wilkes county, and Mrs. J. L. Shaw, of Harmony. Three grandchildren and 13 step-grandchildren survive.

Mrs. Tays spent most of her life in Olin township, but had lived in Statesville the past five years. She had been a member of Hebron Baptist church for thirty years.

Funeral services were held from the residence at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon and interment was in Oakwood cemetery.
